EarthX Film Festival April 19-28

Dallas International Film Festival

DIFF 13th Year

April 11-18th, 2019

Ty Foard recap:

Over 130 diverse films from features, documentaries, and shorts. IARR was on site speaking and interviewing filmmakers, directors, and actors.

As usual Dallas Film and staff does a great job of scheduling a great festival with so much variety and diversity.

I am currently working on my own short film so I really was interested in the variety of short that were scheduled. One of my favorites from the festival was a short film titled “Yirga”

Writer & Director: B.B. Araya

Producer: Tamar Price

Synopsis

The night before Yirga’s big move, she’s plagued by one problem. With her peace of mind at stake, she must take matters into her own hands.

Stay tune for more video interviews and movie reviews from Ali Carter of IARR's BAM Radio Show.

Best of Fest 2019

By Ali Carter

Abducted in Plain Sight. Directed by Skye Borgman

Skye Borgman Dir - Abducted in Plain Sight

It is a situation many of us would be lucky to survive.  The story takes place in 1974 and is  about a man, Robert Berthold aka B,  who abducted a little 12 year old girl, Jan Broberg, with almost no effort not once, but two times!! Right under the parents watchful eye. Folks This is the true story.  He "B" was attractive, charming, patient, yielding and as the story is told, an undercover manipulator..  So how did he do it? How could he do it?  Who knew? Why did it take so long for anyone to look for her? How did Jan deal with this and how could it happen twice?

The plot thickens like mashed potatoes when the milk is drying up. Get your Big Spoon for this one.

Skye spent 5 years digging into this story to bring this to the screen.  It was amazing, eerie and jaw dropping to watch as each onion layer gets pulled back. The parents shared things with Skye as she dug deep into their lives to understand how such a thing could happen.

Ali (I Am Royalty Radio) to Skye: Without giving it away, what are you really hoping, people take away from Abducted in Plain Sight?
Skye: "I want to start the conversation.  I think child abuse has been something incredibly difficult to talk about.  It is a hard conversation to start. and that is what I want this film to do, is give people a voice to start the conversation and to not have people squash you, but to have people open their hearts and open their minds."

This is a much see film.  Major Eye opener.  Great Job Everyone!

Dorinda Walker’s

“Protected By Purpose Tour”

April 6, 2018

by Jaydee Williams

IARR, had the privilege of covering Dorinda Walker’s event “Protected By Purpose Tour” April 6, 2018. The event was hosted at the Southside Of Lamar event center.

The atmosphere was uplifting and  very empowering. The people in attendance were eager and attentive to receive tips on how to fulfill life’s purpose. This tour was not only to empower women, but it also helped others. Dorinda spoke about her book, “Protected By Purpose.” In that moment, she shared stories of her childhood experiences, triumphs, and life lessons. All experiences sparked the inspiration of her book.

This book gives you an outlook on the power of faith, love, forgiveness, and overcoming obstacles to fulfill your purpose. Her story is about the transformation from being an at risk-youth, domestic violence victim, and mental illness sufferer to a woman of purpose.

She is currently touring the states, promoting this great book “Protected By Purpose.” You can purchase the book on Amazon.com or on her website www.dorindawalker.com.

International Pastors and Leadership Conference 2018 -

Bishop Rosie O'Neal Talks Grace

By Ali Carter

And Then there was Bishop Rosie O'Neal!!
Saturday April 21st I Am Royalty Radio planned to go and cover the last day of the International Pastors and Leadership Conference Dallas 2018. Effort to Impact E2i and we were greeted with way more than media coverage.

E2i was founded by Bishop T.D. Jakes to create a space for Entrepreneurs, Pastors and Leaders to come together to network, share strategy and be impactful.
The Entire week has been filled with remarkable speakers and exceptional breakout sessions.
Change Your Situation, An Endurance Race, I'm Still Here, Grace Is the Right Fuel for Impact to name a few and Excellent Think Tanks - Financials, Entrepreneur Sessions and of course Networking.

The Last day was no short order.
Bishop Rosie O'Neal started with a BANG and ended with a BANG!
She was explosive and very relatable.
She hit the stage on FIRE!
Acts 8 was the foundation of her chat with us.  I will call it a chat because it felt like we were sitting in her living room just having a REAL talk with a good friend.  No Fuzzys...She didn't hold back.

Her Subject - "Grace Is The Right Fuel For Impact"

Many of us have quests or just everyday goals we are trying to achieve.  She made us ask... What are we trying to achieve, Why and How...
Sometimes our intentions, our WHY keeps us from being successful.  We look at what we did to get somewhere and forget the foundation of How...
"If we start at EFFORT to get to IMPACT, we fail."

EarthX Film Dallas 2018 - The GREEN Carpet & Gala

by Ali Carter

EarthX EarthX EarthX!!!
Screenings Competitions, Events, Animals, Fitness, Tiny Houses, Green Carpet, Galas and so much more....
2018 EarthX & EarthX Film Festival did not disappoint! An Astounding 60 films and 39 filmakers made the cut!

The Earthx Film Festival is an opportunity for those who are interested and engaged in the livelihood of the environment.  With so many films ranging from animal poaching, to experiencing natural beauty in reality or virtual reality, there is something to spark an interest in everyone who attends.  The main event of  4/19 Opening Night “The Game Changers” is about to do just that.  Director Louie Psihoyos and  producer James Wilks (former Mixed martial arts fighter) have teamed up to make an impact and powerful film about athletes who live, train, compete, and dominate on a plant-based diet.  As an injured athlete, Wilks used his recovery time to study on regaining optimal function of his body and a speedy recovery, and the information that he shares in this film, is indeed, a game changer.

As a person who has tossed around the idea of being plant-based, but never fully committed, this film was definitely motivation to at least give it a try.  As a former track athlete, I never thought that I might be able to remain full or have sustained energy, but the focus was all wrong.  The ideas and scientific backing presented in this film, will definitely inspire you to expand your thinking and at least give it a try.  One line that stood out to me from one of the professional athletes featured in the film was “Some one asked me ‘how can you be as strong as an ox, and you don’t eat meat?’, my answer ‘Have you ever seen an ox eat meat?’”

Definitely a game changer, if it doesn’t change the game for you, it will definitely make you want to choose healthier habits.
